It is my pleasure to welcome you to Horizon Leadership Academy, home of the BLUE JAYS. I am honored to lead a school with such a dedicated staff and supportive community. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this school and to support the students and families.
HORIZON LEADERSHIP ACADEMY is a non-discriminatory, independent school. We serve students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds in the greater Houston area. The school program takes into account the spiritual, physical, social, psychological and academic development of the students.
The Horizon Leadership Academy curriculum focuses on English Language Arts, accelerated math and science courses, social studies, and world languages. Art, technology and media, physical education and character development are also taught.
At Horizon Leadership Academy, we believe that education is not just about academic success but also about developing strong character traits. That's why our core values are Integrity, Responsibility, Innovation, Service and Empathy, which we call IRISE. We strive to instill these values in our students and help them become well-rounded individuals who will make a positive contribution to society.
We are proud to reflect on a truly outstanding 2025-2026 school year. HLA was named a National School of Character, a distinction that recognizes the strength of our community and the character we build in our students every day. Our athletics programs also shone, with our Middle School Volleyball team claiming the Regional Championship and our 4th-6th grade boys soccer team earning 2nd place in their division.

Academically, our students continued to demonstrate strong growth and achievement. On our Winter NWEA/MAP assessments, students achieved 77% in Math, 72% in English, 67% in Science, and 74% in Biology. Our 8th and 9th graders posted a school average PSAT 8/9 score of 991, with an impressive 91% of students scoring at College Ready levels.
As we look ahead to the 2026-2027 school year, we are setting our sights even higher. Our goals include raising our Met Projected Growth Rate to at least 70%, and lifting our average MAP achievement percentiles to 75% across every grade level from Fall to Winter. We are also pursuing COGNIA STEM Certification to further strengthen our science, technology, engineering and math programming. Additionally, we are committed to establishing intentional screen-time boundaries that encourage mindful digital consumption, hands-on collaboration, and deeper face-to-face interaction among our students.
As Head of School at HLA, I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. We will provide our students with opportunities for continuous learning and growth. Our goal as educators is to instill a love of learning as we share our passion for learning with them. We will achieve this by setting high academic expectations for all children and providing supportive systems to ensure they are met. By focusing on a positive school culture, setting high standards for teacher performance, raising academic expectations for all students, and engaging the community, our goal at HLA is to have all students on track to be college and life ready.
At HLA we embrace the challenges of the future while continuing to cherish and celebrate the traditions of the past. Our remarkable staff, involved parents and committed students come together to make HLA a wonderful, unique place, and we look forward to a great year full of great learning experiences and fun family events and activities.
We welcome your involvement and participation in our great school and look forward to working with you and your students as we strive for an academically successful 2026-2027 school year. With gratitude,
