The elementary music program at Horizon Leadership Academy offers a comprehensive and engaging learning experience, introducing students to a wide range of musical concepts, history, music theory, and performance opportunities.

Music at HLA

Welcome to our school's Music program! From pre-K to 8th grade, our students have the opportunity to explore a range of musical genres, develop their musical skills and knowledge, and gain an appreciation for the role of music in society and culture.

In our pre-K and elementary grades, students are introduced to basic musical concepts, such as rhythm, melody, and harmony, through singing, movement, and playing various instruments. Through interactive and engaging learning experiences, they develop their listening skills, coordination, and self-expression.

Music Program Highlights

As students progress into middle school, they build upon these skills to explore more advanced musical concepts and genres, including jazz, classical, and world music. They also study the history and cultural context of different musical traditions, deepening their understanding of music as a global language.

Our program also offers hands-on experience with instrumental performance — students explore and learn to play instruments such as the violin, guitar, drums, and other traditional instruments, fostering both technical skill and artistic confidence.

The Horizon Leadership Academy Music Program is designed to be inclusive, challenging, and inspiring, offering students meaningful opportunities to collaborate, perform, and express themselves through music. We are proud of our students’ creativity and invite you to enjoy their performances and projects showcased on our school website. Thank you for supporting the arts at Horizon Leadership Academy!

Music education is not just about playing an instrument. It's about learning to listen, to work together, to appreciate other cultures, and to express yourself in a way that words cannot.
