TEFA Requirement (Mandatory for All Families Requesting Aid)

All families requesting Financial Aid must also apply for TEFA as soon as the state opens the application window.

How TEFA payments work

• TEFA funds are deposited into the parent’s state portal account.
• Parents must use the state platform to pay Horizon Leadership Academy directly.
• The state does not send funds automatically to schools.

VERY IMPORTANT

Once TEFA publishes your eligibility result, parents must notify Horizon Leadership Academy immediately.
Final Financial Aid and Tuition Agreements cannot be issued until the school receives your TEFA decision.

Financial Aid Priorities (Aligned With TEFA Rules)

Aid is awarded based on:

• Students with disabilities within 500% FPG
• Families below 200% FPG
• Families between 200%–500% FPG
• All others, with priority for students coming from public school
  
• - This group is capped at 20% of total seats
  

Steps for Families Requesting Aid

✔ 1. Submit the HLA Financial Aid Application

Required for all families requesting aid.

✔ 2. Apply for TEFA (mandatory)

HLA will notify parents as soon as the TEFA portal opens.

✔ 3. Wait for TEFA results and notify HLA immediately

Financial Aid cannot be finalized until TEFA publishes results and the family reports their approval status to the school.

✔ 4. Receive Financial Aid Award & Tuition Agreement

Tuition Agreements are finalized once TEFA and HLA awards are confirmed.

Required Documents

The following documents are required to complete the Financial Aid application:

• Pay stubs (most recent)
• W-2 or 1040 tax form (first page only)

Returning Student Benefits (Deadline: January 10)

Returning families who complete the Financial Aid/Commitment form by January 10 receive:

✔ Guaranteed placement
✔ Registration fee waived
✔ Eligibility for the $750 Early Tuition Discount
✔ Priority Financial Aid processing
