Athletics Staff

Mustafa Kanca PE Teacher & Athletic Coordinator / Soccer Coach

Mustafa Kanca serves as the Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Coordinator at Horizon Leadership Academy. He has worked in education since 2008 and brings international experience from Türkiye, Canada, and the United States.Coach Kanca earned his bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Sports Teaching from Gazi University in Türkiye, completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Sport Business Management in Canada, and later earned a Master of Science in Sport Administration with a concentration in Educational Leadership in the United States. He is currently pursuing his Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Global Sport Leadership. He also holds soccer coaching certifications from Türkiye, Canada, the United States, and Scotland.His passion for sports began with soccer at a young age. He played for various teams in Türkiye and represented his university in both soccer and futsal, including national university competitions and select-team experiences. While living in Canada, he founded Toronto Star Sports Club, offering soccer and skiing programs and supporting youth development through coaching, performance analysis, and sports programming.Coach Kanca believes that every child should have the opportunity to participate, belong, and enjoy sports. Especially at younger ages, he believes the focus should be less on winning and more on learning teamwork, building confidence, developing healthy routines, and creating a lifelong love of physical activity. His goal is to help students become healthy, active, confident, responsible, and happy young people.Outside of school, Coach Kanca enjoys researching and developing new ideas, spending time with his wife and three children, and being outdoors through camping, fishing, exploring nature, and family road trips.

Coach Randy and Coach Staci / Basketball Coaches

Coach Randy Hawkins and Coach Staci Hawkins are the Founder and Co-Founder of Hawk Athletics Academy. Together, they bring more than five years of basketball coaching experience, along with collegiate playing and coaching experience, to every athlete they mentor.
Their passion extends beyond developing basketball skills. They are dedicated to helping young athletes build strong fundamentals, enhance their basketball IQ, and develop the teamwork, discipline, and competitive mindset needed to succeed both on and off the court.
At Hawk Athletics Academy, Coach Randy and Coach Staci are committed to creating a positive, challenging, and supportive environment where athletes grow not only as players but also as confident leaders and individuals of strong character.
Their mission is to inspire a lifelong love for the game while preparing athletes for success in sports, school, and life.

Coach Tulod / Girls Volleyball Coach
  • Coach Tulod is the Boys Volleyball Coach at HSA Houston. He brings over five years of club volleyball coaching experience with Texas Resilient Volleyball Club, where he helped develop players’ technical skills, teamwork, and competitive mindset. Coach Tulod is passionate about guiding young athletes to grow both on and off the court through discipline, sportsmanship, and a love for the game.
